The Embrace Child Sponsorship was started in 2000 with 29 children. There are currently 300 kids lives that are being changed by monthly nutrition, and medical assistance.
Servant Ministries has operated a medical clinic in the community of Camotan since 2004 where hundreds of patients have been treated. Patients pay a small fee for consultation with the nurse and medicines are provided for free. Servant Ministries works to ensure that no one is denied access to medical care due to a lack of resources.
Even small donations go a long way in Guatemala.
There are 150 mountain villages surrounding Camotan and many of them are under evangelized with no Bible believing church. Servant Ministries vision is to plant local Bible churches and to coordinate and build permanent buildings for them to worship in.

Basic dental services are performed including: cleanings, fillings, fluoride treatments and extractions. Our Embrace children are given priority and are required to have an annual cleaning, and parents educated of the need to practice preventive oral health care.
Formula is provided to babies (0-3 years) who are malnourished. Buying formula is not an option as the local people do not have the resources to make that kind of a purchase. Babies are brought to the ministry clinic once a month, to be monitored and weighed so that we are assured that the baby is improving in health.
We are always in need of donations of baby formula or financial donations that allow us to purchase the formula in Guatemala, which is the best option.
The medical clinic has the professional equipment to perform eye exams and thousands of glasses to dispense. A nominal fee is charged for the exam and glasses are given at no cost. If you have gently used glasses, consider donating them.
Surrounding the towns of Camotan and Jocotan, there are around 150 different mountain villages. Many of these villages do not have a single evangelical church. Due to distance and rough roads some of these villages are very hard to travel to and during the rainy season are sometimes impossible to reach. Many people never travel out of their own village and that means there is a need to take Jesus to them.
The vision of Servant Ministries is to have an evangelical witness in every village. That’s a BIG vision!!! But we serve a BIG God!!! The first step in building a church is to first establish a Christian witness in that particular village. This is done through door-to-door evangelism. When there is an interest shown, a place is found to start a small meeting. After the people have had a time to grow in the Word and in their Christian walk, then a formal church building is planned.
Servant Ministries has to first raise the funds to build and then find the laborers to do the construction. Often times it becomes a cooperative effort between mission teams and nationals to complete the construction. Praise the Lord for His faithfulness to provide all that is needed to bring His presence into these remote villages!
Though much of the country has been strongly evangelized over the years, this part of Guatemala claims less than a 10% Christian population. There is still a very strong influence of “Mayan practices” which is nothing more than superstition and witchcraft. Often times these practices are mixed with other more traditional religious beliefs to form a belief system that is not based on the Word of God or salvation through the death and resurrection of Christ.
Servant Ministries has used many different forms of evangelism over the years. In addition to regular church services, both in town and in surrounding mountain villages, evangelistic crusades are a way of reaching the unsaved. Often teams to help in these crusades, participating in the preaching, teaching, testimonies, music, and drama.
Another popular way to reach those who don’t know Christ is the projection of Christian movies. Movies are shown at the ministry center, in the remote mountain villages, or in the town plaza. It often draws people who come initially out of curiosity but end up giving their lives to the Lord. Christian children’s videos are also being shown on a Christian television program in various parts of Guatemala where thousands of children are hearing about the love of Jesus.
Other outreaches include youth programs for both children and teens. Sports, music and drama events may be used as a medium to deliver the message of Christ to teenagers. Vacation Bible School has been found to be an effective way to reach the younger children in the area through Bible stories, games and crafts.
